NOV. 17, 2016:
A few weeks ago, YouTube quietly launched “End Screens,“what is described as a new mobile-friendly tool that lets you engage viewers the moment your video finishes and encourages them to watch more videos on their devices. While any good video will leave a viewer thirsty for more, we are excited to see if and how these new End Screens will boost engagement.
According to the YouTube Creator Blog, using End Screens is super easy for both creators and viewers. They’ll show up in the last 15 to 20 seconds of your videos, and you can choose to show thumbnail overlays that can lead viewers to subscribe to your channel, watch another video or visit a collaborator’s channel.

You may read this and think: “End Screens sound just like Annotations.” You’re not wrong, but Annotations are a desktop-only tool, and End Screens will slowly phase Annotations out because they’re all-around more efficient and easier to use. They are also both mobile and desktop friendly, so they allow you to engage with more viewers. YouTube tested End Screens extensively with existing content creators, so you know they are good to go.
Have you tried End Screens yet? What are your thoughts? How do you intend to use them?
