JUNE 13, 2017:
Spring saw a wave of celebrity beauty brand collaborations and announcements, from Chrissy Teigen’s Glow Face Palette for Becca Cosmetics to Dua Lipa’s unicorn-inspired MAC Cremesheen Glass lip gloss via Blue Ivy’s namesake line – and the news just keeps coming in 2017.
On May 31st, Rihanna revealed on Twitter that she’d be launching her highly anticipated cosmetics line, Fenty Beauty, in the fall, over a year after partner LVMH made its initial announcement. As yet, we have no further information, other than to head over to the brand website and sign up for the latest news…
But Rihanna’s not the only singer to set her sights on our beauty budget. The very same week, W magazine reported that Mariah Carey will be starting her own beauty company with manager Stella Bulochnikov, quoting a source who told Page Six that the pair will be opening a store in Beverly Hills ‘this holiday season or next year by the latest’. We have high hopes for the singer’s products, following the success of her collaboration with MAC last year.

Karl Lagerfeld is also expanding into beauty, with plans to launch a limited-edition color cosmetics collection under the theme ‘Illuminated Beauty’ with Australian beauty company ModelCo in early 2018. ‘Through this collaboration, we can offer our consumers a glimpse into how we translate the Karl Lagerfeld vision and aesthetic into unique cosmetics,’ said the fashion house’s chief executive officer, Pier Paolo Righi.
And then there’s Madonna. Bustle speculated that her skincare brand, MDNA Skin, which is currently available only in Asian markets, may be coming to America. First hints came via Jerrod Blandino’s Instagram, who shared one of his favorite MDNA Skin products alongside the hashtag #ComingToAmericaSoon, which Bustle writer Amy Sciarreto corroborated with a Madonna post from December 25th, 2016, which said: ‘No Muss-No Fuss!! Perfect Holiday Gift!!! Chrome Clay Mask!! Coming to America Soon!!’ But the jury’s still out on whether a US launch is coming our way.
