JAN 31, 2018:
Are you ready for the month ahead? Whether you’re looking for video inspiration or in need of a beauty trend update, we got you! Here are four content ideas to plan in February.
1. Celebrate Valentine’s Day
With February 14th only two weeks away, it’s never too soon to get date-night ready. YouTubers are already posting their favorite looks, with the general feeling leaning to natural beauty, using subdued nude and pale pinks, or keeping everything pared back and finishing with a pop of color on the lips. Who is getting in the mood for love? Nicole Guerriero uses ColouredRaine Lovelies Palette to create her ‘girly’ look in her Mauve-y Goodness Makeup Tutorial video, Nellie Robert’s How To: Day To Night Glam Makeup Tutorial is converted to red lipstick by Mac’s Lip Liner in Chestnut, while GinsMakeup’s presents two contrasting looks: VAMPY versus PINK GLAM. Which is your fave?
2. Say Yes to Life’s a Festival
Too Faced’s new festival-themed collection launches on February 15th. If you’re a lover of all things unicorn – or of musician RaeLynne, who collaborated with the brand on the line – then you are in for a treat. What can you expect? An eyeshadow palette of 12 colorful hues plus one highlight shade, magical lipsticks that adjust to your body chemistry to ‘reveal a unique color’, and the Magic Rainbow Strobing Brush. Hello Giggles declared that Life’s a Festival ‘is sure to be one of the most talked-about beauty launched of .’ But after unicorn beauty took over Instagram last year, do we want more or less of this look? Discuss.
3. Look to the Red Carpet
From this month’s Golden Globes to the Oscars on March 4th, Awards Season always has everyone glued to their screens. The media loves to predict the red-carpet looks we’ll love, or review the best dressed or the best beauty of the night. If someone inspires you, why not dedicate a tutorial to them? Your audience gets to find out about your heroes and how to get the look. So you might not be as lucky as Deepica Mutyala, who got to walk the red carpet herself, but you can showcase awards-to-after-party makeup online for all your followers. That’s glamorous.
4. Learn Japanese (Beauty)
‘Why J-Beauty Is About To Overtake Our K-Beauty Obsession’, Refinery29 wrote earlier this month. While we’re not sure we’ve completely seen the last of K-Beauty, 2018 certainly seems to be the year we revisit Japanese brands, products, and routines. ‘We are seeing a return to the expert,’ says Millie Kendall MBE, co-founder of BeautyMART and Asian beauty specialist. ‘Their tastes and use of the product is based on performance, not gimmick. They need well-made products that deliver where there is no room for error, and that’s where Japanese formulations come on.’ Just search #JBeauty on Instagram to see its rise.
