Why We Love L’Oreal’s Newest Campaign Celebrating Diversity

JAN. 31, 2017:

If you watched the Golden Globe awards earlier this month, you most likely saw the debut of L’Oreal’s newest campaign. Entitled, “Your Skin, Your Story,” the campaign promotes the brand’s “True Match” foundation and features women and men of all races and backgrounds. Though we’ve heralded L’Oreal’s stance on diversity on the ipsyOS blog before, this campaign is it’s most diverse and fearless to date, and we couldn’t be more excited about it.

Not only does the campaign feature a very-pregnant Blake Lively, among other celebs, models and influencers, the spot features transgender activist Hari Nef and L’Oreal’s first male beauty ambassador, Darnell Bernard. Though Maybelline and CoverGirl already introduced male spokespersons in the past few month, Bernard is a step in the progressive direction for L’Oreal as a global beauty brand.

“L’Oréal Paris is a brand fueled by a mission to empower everyone to own and embrace their individual beauty and intrinsic worth,” said Tim Coolican, deputy general manager, L’Oréal Paris USA, in a press release. “By featuring a diverse blend of individuals and illustrating their individual skin stories, our new True Match campaign celebrates the power and beauty of feeling comfortable in your own skin.”

We are excited to see if other brands will follow suit, and create content that features people of all races, genders and sizes.
