Hello Gorgeous!

Welcome to ipsy Open Studios (“ipsyOS”), a division of Personalized Beauty Discovery, Inc. (“ipsy”). This is your community and we want you to flourish in it. We don’t have a lot of rules (let’s just call them guidelines), but we do think everyone should be on the same page if we’re going to get along.

ipsyOS accepted Members are not employees of ipsyOS or ipsy. ipsyOS approves its Members using lots of different criteria that are not the same as the criteria used to select employees; your online persona, your geographic area, your content following and other factors may be considered. What is important is we believe your presence here contributes to the creative balance and diverse community we think makes for a vibrant and unique online environment. No singular criteria captures our selection process, and the criteria changes on an ongoing basis. We can’t take everyone, and we may rotate people out to spice things up. If this happens to you, we hope you understand it’s because we’re continually changing the environment. You can always apply again.

ipsy’s goal in creating ipsyOS is to create a community of beauty creators who can learn about new products and events to grow their channels and careers, have special access to influential people in the beauty community, including one-on-one time with Michelle Phan and our other most successful ipsy influencers, and gain insights and input from the best in the business. As a Member, you also have direct access to our studio in the Los Angeles area, where you can reserve studio time to create professional quality videos.

In addition to the amazing resources you’ll find at ipsyOS, we will do our best to introduce you to the best beauty trends, products, people and events we can find. That means, from time to time, you may receive invitations to attend special event in your area, to receive special products, to participate in online events, or to create special videos. Heck, we might even ask your opinion by sending you a survey. We hope you’ll take advantage of as many of these services as you have time for, and that you’ll tell us how you liked them.

Because you are not an employee of ipsy, you are never required to engage in any of these special activities and when you do so, you are responsible for any consequences of attending events or receiving products. What we’re saying is ipsy is not liable to you if the event you attend, the product you receive or review, or the activity you engage is isn’t what you thought it would be, or you expend resources in order to attend the event, or you are injured as a result. We won’t pay your way, reimburse you, or give you any money to participate. It’s all at your own risk.

If you do decide to take advantage of special events and meetings, in some cases, we may require you to sign special releases. These are legal releases our lawyers require, and if you are not comfortable signing them, it is likely we cannot let you partake in the event or activity. If your original ipsyOS application shows you’re under the age of 18, we may ask you to get your parent or guardian’s permission. Thanks for your understanding.

Our simple philosophy is this: we want to help you be fabulous. In return, we ask that you continue to be the bright star you have shown yourself to be. ipsy doesn’t require you to say nice things about us or the products we may send you from time to time. What we ask is that you give truthful and thoughtful evaluations of the products you receive, honest assessments of the events you attend, and well-reasoned accounts of the experiences you have as an ipsyOS Member.

Naturally, we love it when you sing our praises, write glowingly about our events, and promote the products you receive, but it’s far more important to us that your feedback is genuine, so we’ll never tell you what to say or when to say it. If we provide products or event access to you, then you do decide to write about or videotape the product or event, please mention that you’ve received the product or event access from ipsy because you are an ipsyOS Member.

You were chosen to be an ipsyOS Member, and that means we think you have great instincts, but just as a reminder, please exercise decorum within our site and use the information we provide you responsibly. For instance, we want you use the resources we have liberally; just re Member not to claim them as your own property. You have our permission to use them, but we still own them.

Let’s all get along. If you learn about other Members through our resources who have a different perspective than yours, please don’t make personal attacks on them through your public social media outlets. And finally – and this probably goes without saying – we ask that you don’t associate our good name with things that would tarnish the goodwill we’ve worked hard to create in the beauty community. For instance (and this is a partial list), please don’t associate us with pornography, illicit drug use, or violence. We’re all about beauty and we’d like to keep it that way. We’d hate to ask you to leave, but if we find that you are doing things that we consider objectionable, we’ll have to terminate your access to ipsyOS.

If you no longer wish to be a Member, just tell us, by sending an email to us at ipsyOS@ipsy.com. We will remove you from our list of Members promptly.
