JAN. 18, 2017:
Twitter is essentially just one big conversation, but sometimes we get tongue-tied, and it feels like if we say the wrong thing, we get attacked or ignored. If you are interested in reinvigorating your Twitter presence in 2017 or simply want to learn from others’ mistakes, keep reading for tips and tricks to better tweeting.
Tweeting too much
It can be difficult to find the sweet spot for how often to tweet. It’s not the type of social network where the more you post, the better—this can often come across as spam to your followers. We recommend tweeting three times a day, as data shows that engagement drops after the third tweet.
#AD, #AD, #AD
The same can be said for ads as well—you don’t want to spam your followers and make them feel like you are just trying to sell them something. Look at your content plan for the week and make sure that it’s not filled with ads. Less than 20% should be ideal.

Not interacting enough
With YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, it’s hard to keep up with all the comments (a great problem to have!), and doing so can often feel like a full-time job. Do your best to follow your tweets and respond when necessary. It is the personal touch that keeps people engaged.
Not using images, videos and gifs
Twitter is so interactive now—there’s no excuse for not using media to grab the follower’s attention. Make sure you’re using high-quality photos and videos that fit your brand, and throw in an occasional meme to keep it light.
Airing your grievances
Twitter is not your soapbox, so don’t use it as such. Keep your tweets as positive messages that promote your brand and the brands you admire. Spread love, not negativity.
