APR 12, 2018:
The constant makeup launches are great in terms of trying out and falling in love with new products. But sometimes, you just have to show some love the OG few that were there from the start. Here are the throwback products that have not only kept their reputation through the years but that everyone and their mom (literally) obsessed over in the beauty community.
1. MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural
For starters, who doesn’t miss trying to get the camera to focus on this compact, mirror hiding and all? That aside, this product was featured in almost everyone’s “starter kit”. To this day, it’s lived up to its rep for being one of the only powders that manages to give that flawless yet natural looking finish to the skin. Great on its own for “good skin” days or as a foundation topper, it’s still a makeup bag staple.
2. NARS Sheer Glow Foundation
Not only did this formula have dry-skinned girls all over it, NARS Sheer Glow was also ahead of the game in terms of delivering a range of colors that catered to many different skin tones. The buildable yet natural-looking coverage was at some seemingly on everyone’s favorites.
3. Mac Prep + Prime Fix +
Referred to as “Fix Plus” for short by those in the know, this was one of the original setting sprays that got everyone spritzing like crazy. Before the setting spray game was really where it’s currently at, this multipurpose must-have was loved and used by pros and newbies alike as a mixing medium, makeup setter, and all-around refresher. And it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.
4. Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer
Treading down memory lane in the drugstore brings us to our next throwback. From the smell (think “laying on a Caribbean beach” meets pina colada) to its packaging (which admittedly, not everyone was a fan of), this bronzer gave glow-seekers the perfect amount of shimmer and sunkissed, glowing-from-within look without breaking the bank. Since then, it’s been released in darker shades and continues to be a top drugstore staple.
5. Urban Decay Naked Palette 1
The hype around this palette was so real when it came out that it had people trekking from store to store to get their hands on it. And for good reason – it was one of the first (and arguably the best) launches of its kind, making way to a shadow palette “revival” of sorts to follow.
