5 Exciting Spring Beauty Trends You Should Try Now

FEB. 23, 2017:

Despite what the weather says, spring is upon us and what better way to get into the seasonal mood than to play with the best spring beauty looks, direct from the runways? Read on for our top five picks to experiment with now.

Chameleon colors
The 80s are back in full effect this spring, and the trend was most apparent on the eyes. A rainbow of colors, from electric purple cat eyes at Louis Vuitton to bright yellow smudges at Sportmax to Rachel Comey’s wash of sky blue, was seen in every single one of the four main fashion cities. Invest in a palette with strong pigment and get to finger painting.

Smudged eyes
Also pulling inspiration from the 80s—but rather Joan Jett than Debbie Harry—designers showed smudged, smoky eyes. With a strong focus on imperfection (the look should evoke an out-all-night, slept in feeling), runways from Chloe to Balmain to Coach showed this homage to edgy rocker glam.

Bold lips
Red lips never go out of style, but this spring, we will be wearing alternative colors, like fuchsia, orange and sweet peach. At shows like Versus, Valentino and Jason Wu, the rest of the face was kept simple to keep the focus on the lip. And for those of you who are on the matte lip bandwagon, stay put. It’s still huge for spring.

Unexpected blush
Depending on the shape of your face, you more than likely apply blush to the apples of your cheeks. That’s pretty standard practice across the industry. This spring however, expect to see unexpected blush placement—we are talking high around the temple a la 80s (spotted at Kenzo), carving out the cheekbones (like at Chanel) and even used as an eyeshadow (like Adam Selman’s light pink beauty looks).

Glowing from within
The contoured looks we’ve seen in previous seasons are getting a subtle treatment for spring, so stash your heavy palettes. Natural, dewy looks are key and were spotted at Versace, Elie Saab and Prada. To achieve this barely-there look, invest in a good tinted moisturizer, a highlighter and a light bronzer.
