5 mobile apps to help you make videos on the move

April 26, 2017

Can’t get behind the camera today? These five mobile apps might be exactly what you need to creatively kick-start your day…

1. Flipagram

Boasting 200 million users, Flipagram launched in 2013 as a tool to create video stories or ‘Flips’, which combine videos, photos, text and music. It’s USP? Flipagram is the only app with global music licensing deals – you get free access to 60-second clips from around 50 million songs owned by labels like Universal, Sony, and Warner. Last year, CNBC even pitted it against YouTube. As video marketing for mobile becomes more and more important, we reckon this short-but-sweet approach to video creation is going to become even more popular.

2. Adobe Spark

‘You don’t need editing skills to create polished videos with Adobe Spark,’ claimed Digital Trends last year. As social-media giants Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and Twitter have all ‘stepped up their services to support user-generated video content’, the Adobe Spark is a free online and mobile graphic design app giving you the power of Adobe’s pro tools like Photoshop and InDesign right in the palm of your hand. You can create professional graphics and animated videos in a matter of minutes.

3. Spark Video

Formerly known as Spark Voice, the Spark Video app by Adobe allows you to create short videos using still image, audio, photos, text, icons, music, narration, as well as video clips from your device or computer. This all might sound familiar, but the secret to Spark Video’s success is its ability to help you enhance your storytelling craft, with rich visual themes and easy features like text overlay, plus its latest update is geared towards easy sharing on social media.

4. Animoto

Animoto is another cloud-based tool with a whole host of customizable choices, helping you create unique and eye-catching videos from your photos and video clips. You don’t need to be a video editor or understand timelines, here – this is an app for real people, whether they’re making videos for business or for fun. Choose a video style, add your logo, upload your media, enter some text, change the font, select your song, preview, and share!

5. Ripl

This up-and-coming app passed one million installs last month and is an App of the Year finalist in the GeekWire Awards 2017. Giving you a ‘small marketing team in [your] pocket’, Ripl works much like the other tools we’ve featured to create visual content. Its real claim to fame? ‘We are the only ones that help influencers build and monetize their following and enable brands to effectively engage influencers.’
